A serious RPG-style visual novel designed to provide a risk-free environment to practice the important interpersonal skills, necessary for leading a small group Bible study in a Japanese context.
Leading a Bible study in Japan requires more than just theological knowledge. It requires facilitating good conversation, understanding deep personal needs, challenging participants appropriately, and maintaining the flow of the group.
This simulator provides useful, real-world-applicable training for foreign missionaries and Japanese church lay leaders. Your goal is to facilitate a realistic, culturally accurate gathering without the fear of making real-world relationship mistakes.
Typing out a whole Bible study can be tedious. Use the microphone button to practice speaking your facilitation out loud! This relies entirely on your browser's offline Voice-to-Text.
Click on any character's portrait during the simulation to view their "Tatemae" (public, polite face) versus their "Honne" (true, inner thoughts and struggles).
Schedule an appointment with Watanabe-sensei to get meta-feedback on your facilitation performance.
Bypass the shared demo limits by connecting your own free Google AI account. It takes 2 minutes and requires no technical skills.
If you play a lot, and want even more/faster turns than Google's free-tier allows, just connect a payment method to your API key, and only pay for what you actually use!
Go to Google AI Studio and sign in with your normal Google or Gmail account.
On the left-hand menu, click the button that says "Get API key".
Click the blue "Create API key" button, then select "Create API key in new project". Wait a few seconds for it to generate.
Copy the long code it gives you (it usually starts with AIza...). Open the Settings menu (⚙️) in the game, paste it under "Bring Your Own Key", and click Save Key. You're ready to play!
I am a missionary who would love to see more people equipped and empowered to practice multiplicative ministry in the Japanese Church. I built this simulator to help people learn the nuances of Japanese communication in a safe environment.
This project is a labor of love. If you have any feedback, encounter bugs, or want to share how the tool has helped your ministry or training, I would love to hear from you.
